The Find Dialogue
The Find dialogue may be accessed either from the Main Window (Menu:
MAIL > FIND. Keyboard: CTRL+F) or from the Mail Edit, Sent Mail
(Menu: EDIT > FIND. Keyboard: CTRL+F) or Mail View (Menu: VIEW >
FIND. Keyboard: CTRL+F) window. In addition, the "Find Next" toolbar
buttons on the Mail Edit and Mail View windows will open the Find
dialogue if text has not been previously set through the dialogue.
When the Find dialogue is opened from the Main Window, if no message is
selected, the first message in the Mailbox will open, otherwise the
currently selected message is opened, and the Find dialogue overlaid.
For the simplest searches, enter the text in the "Find text:" line
and click the "Find next" button. A highlight will appear on the first
instance of the text found in the displayed message and will cycle
through all instances that can be found with each further click.

Options
- Find text:
- Enter text to be found.
- Match case
- When checked only instances of the text whose case matches will be
found.
- Search in subject
- When checked the search will include both body and subject line
NOTE: No highlight is shown
for matches on the subject line. However, the search does stop at
messages which show a match in the subject line.
- Use wildcards
- When checked, the characters *, ?, and \ will have special meaning:
- * will match any number of characters
- ? will match any single characters
- \ will escape the next character; for example, \* will match the
* character
- This message only
- When checked the search only considers the current message.
- All messages in mailbox/dt>
- When checked the search cycles through all messages in the currently
selected Mailbox in the Main Window. (Activates the "Next message"
button.)
- All mailboxes
- When checked the search cycles through all messages in all
Mailboxes, including the Outbox. (Activates the "Next mailbox"
button.)
- Find Next
- Click this button to move to the next instance of the search text.
NOTE: The Find Next buttons on the toolbars of the Mail View
and Mail Edit windows act as if clicking on this button and will do so
even if the dialogue is not currently open.
- Next message
- (Only active if the "Search all mail in Mailbox" option is checked)
Click this button to abandon further searching within the
current message and move to the next.
- Next mailbox
- (Only active if the "Search all mailboxes" option is checked)
Click this button to abandon further searching within the
current Mailbox and move to the next.
- Cancel
- Abandon the search and close the dialogue.
The Replace
Dialogue
The Replace dialogue is accessed from the Mail Edit window (Menu: EDIT
> REPLACE... Keyboard: CTRL+H). It enables one or more examples of
text in a message being edited to be replaced with an alternative word
or phrase.
Options
- Find text:
- Enter text to be found.
- Match case
- When checked only instances of the text whose case matches will be
found.
- Use wildcards
- When checked, the characters *, ?, and \ will have special meaning:
- * will match any number of characters
- ? will match any single characters
- \ will escape the next character; for example, \* will match the
* character
- Replace with:
- Enter the text to replace that found
- Find Next
- Move to the next instance of the search text.
- Replace
- Replaces the currently selected text with that in the "Replace
with:" field
- Replace all
- Replaces all examples of the selected text with that in the
"Replace with:" field
- Done
- Closes the dialogue and returns focus to the Mail Edit window.
