Note 1: The nPOPuk Address book for PPC/SP devices has the option to import contacts from the built-in Contacts data base...
- File > Global Options > Other > Use Pocket Contacts address book
Note 2: When importing contacts from the device, editing of addresses and categories takes place in Contacts, rather than in the nPOPuk Address book.
(When not importing from Contacts.)
- Go to File > Address book.
- An empty address book has only the Add option in bold. Tap Add.
- Delete "Name", or replace with the contacts's name, with or without quotes.
- Replace username@domain.com with contacts's email address.
- Be sure to leave the < > symbols.
- Tap ok.
- Type in a comment if wanted.
- Type in a category name if wanted.
- Categories already named can be chosen with the drop-down window.
- Categories should be without spaces, to make use of auto-complete later.
- Tap ok.
- Contact email address is highlighted in the first column of the address book.
- To add more contacts, tap Add again.
- Open Address book again - File > Address book.
- Highlight contact and tap Mail.
- This is the Property window for the new email to be written. The Reply-to address is default, noted by (Omit). The new email address is in the To field.
- Tap on the Account drop-down window to choose the account wanted. Type in a Subject.
- The Recipients button is used to add more addresses to the To, Cc or Bcc fields, or to shift addresses between fields. The Attach button is used for adding attachments.
- Tap OK.
- The email is ready to type.
- When finished tap the Save and Mark icon. (Envelope with red arrow.)
- New email is marked to send at next Update.
Single address:
- Open an email waiting to be sent.
- Tap the Property icon. (circle with "i")
- Tap Recipients.
- Type the first letters of a contact name or address in the Address field, then press the space bar. Keep tapping the space bar to toggle through the contacts.
- When contact wanted is showing, tap To, Cc or Bcc to place in the recipients list.
- Tap ok to return to the Property window.
- Tap OK to edit the email.
- When editing is finished, tap the Save and Mark icon. (Envelope with red arrow.)
- The email is marked to send. The next time the device is online, and the Update icon is tapped, the email will be sent.
To a mailing list, complete category:
- Open an email waiting to be sent.
- Tap the Property icon. (circle with "i")
- Tap Recipients.
- Type the first letters of a category in the Address field, then press the space bar to auto-complete the addresses from the category.
- Tap To, Cc or Bcc to place in the recipients list.
- Highlight contact and tap To, Cc or Bcc to change the option if wanted.
- Tap ok to return to the Property window.
- Tap OK to edit the email.
- When editing is finished, tap the Save and Mark icon. (Envelope with red arrow.)
- The email is marked to send. The next time the device is online, and the Update icon is tapped, the email will be sent.
To create mailing lists, group contacts by category. Category names should contain no spaces. Each contact can have more than one category. When wanting to send an email to those on a mailing list, choose the category wanted, and send to all in that category. Or, type the name of the category in the address box, no spaces allowed, and tap the spacebar.
To create a mailing list: (3 options, depending on this setting - File > Global Options > Other > Use Pocket Contacts address book)
- When USING Pocket Contacts: (importing Contacts into the nPOPuk address book)
a) Set a Category in Pocket Contacts for each contacts wanted in the mailing list.
b) To send an email to everyone in this mailing list (Category) when selecting addresses, choose the category from the drop-down list, then use Ctl+a to select all the contacts. Or, type the Category name in the address window, then tap the spacebar to auto-complete all the addresses in the Category. (No spaces allowed in Category names for this to work.)
- When NOT using Pocket Contacts: (not importing Contacts into the nPOPuk address book)
a) Open address book, File > Address book.
b) Using the keyboard, tap the Ctl key and select the contacts wanted for a mailing list.
c) Tap Edit.
d) In Categories: select Add
e) In the window type a name for the mailing list (do not use spaces), or choose from the drop-down window.
f) Tap ok.
g) Tap ok again to exit address book.
h) Re-open address book, File > Address book.
i) The mailing list name now shows in the address book as a Category.
j) To send an email to everyone in this mailing list:
-- Open the Address book. Then choose the category from the drop-down list. Then use Ctl+a to select all. Then tap Mail.
-- Or, type the Category name in the address window of a new message. Then tap the spacebar to auto-complete all the addresses in the category.
k) To delete the mailing list (Category), open the address book, select the Category to delete, select all contacts in this Category (mailing list) using Ctl+A, tap Edit, tap Remove, select Category name to remove, tap OK.
- When using OR not using Pocket Contacts Address Book:
a) Tap New message.
b) Fill in To, Cc, Bcc boxes.
c) Type name of mailing list in Subject box, OK.
d) Leave message window blank.
e) Tap Save to Outbox to save as draft. (envelope with a disk symbol)
f) When sending to recipients in this mailing list, highlight the draft in Outbox, then use Mail > Edit > Edit as new (or tap-n-hold > Edit as new) change Subject, write message and Send.
g) Tap the date header to sort date column to find all draft Mailing lists Saved in Outbox, as they will sort to the bottom of the Outbox list.
